Any works of fiction will require some degree of research if it is to be authentic. Books, periodicals, interviews, and when possible, personal visits to the actual locations provide the kind of historical foundation upon which the story rests. If the characters are fictitious, then at least the environment and scenes need to be authentic. Of course, historical sources may not always agree. It is then that the writer must make decisions. In a serious effort to make the historical fictions books that I write ring true, I have read and thought and made choices. Most of the following sources can be bought in bookstores or online. Some may be accessed in local libraries only.
